What does COVID-19 mean for CodeDay? Our statement on the pandemic.

Help students fall in love with code.

CodeDay is a 24-hour, beginner-focused tech education event which gets students coding: 80% of attendees with no prior experience continue programming after.

CodeDay LA, Winter 2015

We created CodeDay to fill the gap between in-school programs, which explain how to code and the eternal question of students: why do I need to know this?

At CodeDay, students pitch ideas for apps or games they want to see exist, then spend the next 24 hours creating them with the help of staff and mentors.

Students regularly tell us CodeDay is one of the most meaningful things they've done. Over 80% of our attendees continue to code after attending, strengthening the local tech community and empowering low-income and minority groups.

Another Way to Help: Event Staff

CodeDay staff form a pyramid.

Before CodeDay even starts, our event staff are working hard to make sure we have a venue and that local students, teachers, and clubs know about the event.

Whether you're a student, teacher, parent, or community member, we need your help. Becoming an event volunteer makes the biggest impact on CodeDay, and only requires a few hours of work each week, and is a rewarding and fun way to network and interact with the community and, for students, learn valuable workplace skills.
